"Karo: Hellstopia" is intended to be a singleplayer roguelike, where the player controls a team of four misfit kids in a world with all favors stacked against them. When the boys discover a world made of magic, they return to it night after night looking for an escape, for solidarity with each other and for an outlet for their issues. While their waking world is cruel, the adventures they go on don't have to be... right?

Every action the player makes has consequences, either for the way the battles play out or the way the characters change and evolve throughout the story. Gameplay would consist of a combination of multiple genres - classic RPG-style strict tiled movement and turn-based combat, roguelike randomized dungeons and item pools (as well as level, equipment and progress reset between dungeons), and rhythm-based "minigames" during combat to ensure it's fast-paced while still strategic.
